The annual joint event DGKK & DEMBE that emerged from the Workshop of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Kristallwachstum und Kristallzüchtung (DGKK) on Epitaxy of III-V Semiconductors and the German MBE Workshop (DEMBE), will take place in Magdeburg from December 3rd to 5th 2025, organized by the Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg (OvGU).

This event will be a continuation of the series of joint workshops for German-speaking communities working on metal organic vapor phase epitaxy (MOVPE) and molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). Although starting as general workshop on Epitaxy of III-V Semiconductors, including LPE and HVPE growth in the late 1980s, the workshop then developed a focus on MOVPE with few contributions from other fields as e.g. HVPE. After a long history of separate annual workshops of DGKK and DEMBE they combined for the first time in Bremen in 2022, followed by Stuttgart in 2023 and Berlin in 2024. The Department of Semiconductor Epitaxy at the Institute of Physics at OvGU is pleased to present the 2025 edition, facilitating continued collaborations and inspiring advancement in the field.

The workshop will consist of scientific presentations on all topics related to epitaxy – including epitaxial methods such as HVPE or sputter epitaxy – of a broad variety of materials classes (not restricted to III-V semiconductors) and an exhibition by industry partners. The goal of the workshop is to foster the exchange of experience and expertise in the German-speaking communities working on epitaxy. Contributions with an emphasis on methodical, technical, and practical aspects of epitaxy are particularly welcome.

This year we will have presentations as oral presentation only. For this we plan for 15 min presentation and 5 min discussion.

The workshop will take place at the Gesellschaftshaus Magdeburg

Please note, if you travel by train via Berlin the direct route from Berlin to Magdeburg is not in operation for the next months due to damage by a fire. A bus transfer is necessary which usually is quite crowded. The best way to get to Magdeburg is by IC/ICE from Berlin Hbf via Stendal where you have to switch to an IC or regional train (travel time 1:40 – 2:05 h). Alternatively the RE4 and RE20 (change in Stendal) or RE7 and changing to the RE13 in Rosslau (Elbe) are other options (approx 2:20-2:40 h). From/via Leipzig/Halle and Braunschweig/Hannover train travel is not limited.
